Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University

The Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) was established under the State Act 1998 on 3rd December 2000 at Nagpur as its Head Quarter.  The jurisdiction of the university is entire Maharashtra and six veterinary institutes, two fisheries institutes and two dairy technology institutes are affiliated to MAFSU. Along with educational institutes, Wildlife Research and Training Centre and three Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) are sanctioned and functional under the university.  All the constituent colleges of MAFSU are located at different regions of Maharashtra to cater the need of livestock and fishery farming communities. Infrastructure facilities have been strengthened at each college and some of the institutes are having extraordinary facilities for teaching and research. To mention few are Western Regional Reference Laboratory for Meat and Meat Products Quality Standard, World Bank funded ICAR- NAHEP-CAAST “Centre of Excellence for Advanced Research on Animal Food Safety” at Mumbai Veterinary College; Centre for zoonoses at Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur; AICRP centre on Pig at KNP College of Veterinary Science Shirwal and ETT laboratory at PGIVS Akola. University has successfully completed several externally funded projects sponsored by DBT, DST, RKVY, ICMR, ICAR, RGST, NATP, NAIP, NABARD, MoFPI etc.
